Little Hell Boat Landing and Artisan Well
Millett, South Carolina at the end of Little Hell Road (CR 368). It provides a one lane boat ramp, a gravel parking area for approximately 10 vehicles and a large artisan well. Why the name for such a beautiful place?
Originally, the river at this particular place was filled with rock-thus creating a devious situation for the
landing of boats. Thus, the boat captains usually referred to the approach in terms of “hell.” Records
indicate that Mrs. Elizabeth Laffitte, donated five acres of land on the Savannah River for the landing.
The artisan well located at Little Hell is a county historical icon.
